About ISKF-SA
In June 1991 Shihan San Pillay won a 4th Dan Black Belt and, together with a few of his Senior Students formed the World Karate Shotokan Academy – South Africa, under the leadership of O’Sensei Taiji Kase (10th DAN).
After 13 years, in November 2004, O’Sensei Kase passed away. After his death, Shihan San Pillay, a 6th Dan, joined the International Shotokan Karate Federation, and the Organisation changed its name to ISKF-SA.
Shihan San started his Karate as a 13-year-old in April 1969 at the Raku Judo and Karate Club, under Sensei Robby Reddy.
ISKF - Graduate “A” Instructor, “A” Examiner and “A” Judge.
In January 2023 Shihan San was appointed to the ISKF international Technical Panel
His Grading History is as follows:
- First Dan Black Belt - August 1980 – England – Grading panel Sensei’s Shiro Asano, Rikuta Koga, Masaru Miura.
- Second Dan Black Belt – April 1983 – South Africa – Grading panel Sensei’s Rikuta Koga and Norio Kawazoe.
- Third Dan Black Belt – March 1986 – South Africa – Grading panel Sensei’s Rikuta Koga and Norio Kawazoe.
- Fourth Dan Black Belt - May 1990 – South Africa – Sensei Hirokazu Kanazawa.
- Fifth Dan Black Belt – April 1995 – Sweden - Sensei’s Taiji Kase and Hiroshi Shirai.
- Six Dan Black Belt – October 2001 – Sweden – Sensei Taiji Kase.
- Seventh Dan Black Belt – June 2008 – Philadelphia USA – Sensei’s Teruyuki Okazaki, Yutaka Yaguchi and the ISKF Shihankai.
- Eight Dan Black Belt – June 2015 - Philadelphia USA – Sensei’s Teruyuki Okazaki, Yutaka Yaguchi and the ISKF Shihankai.
